About Farm Truck Designs

From a 1955 Chevy Pickup to a Growing Family Workshop

Farm Truck Designs began with a 1955 Chevrolet pickup truck from Texas, a small home garage in Warrington and an idea that grew far bigger than we ever expected.

What started as a family side project has developed into a busy British manufacturing business, creating distinctive metalwork and personalised gifts for homes, gardens, businesses, memorials and events across the UK.

Where It All Began

Our first Xtreme CNC plasma table was installed in our home garage, where we began making coat hooks and hanging basket brackets for friends and family.

Our first proper event was the Cheshire Steam Fair. It poured with rain, but people loved what we were making and that soggy first weekend encouraged us to keep going.

The old Chevy that helped inspire our name soon became a huge part of the business too. Today, it travels with us to markets, garden centres, steam fairs and classic-car shows, where it has become our unmistakable mobile display.

As more people discovered our work, the orders, custom requests and product range continued to grow. Before long, we had completely outgrown the garage.

Meet the Farm Truck Designs Family

Farm Truck Designs is run by Leanne and Matt, with plenty of assistance—and occasional supervision—from our mini boss, Amelia.

Between us, we design new products, manufacture orders, answer messages, update the website, pack parcels and take the business on the road to events throughout the year. We continue to build the business around our family life and our other full-time roles.

Our newest addition is Shadow, our black Labrador. He has quickly appointed himself workshop quality-control inspector, chief attention seeker and occasional event companion. His actual manufacturing contribution remains questionable, but his enthusiasm is impossible to fault!

Our Bigger Workshop in Lymm

After moving into our first industrial workshop, we soon found ourselves running short of space again. In 2026, we took another major step forward and moved into a much larger workshop at Camsley Farm in Lymm, Cheshire.

The additional space has allowed us to install our new 8ft × 4ft Xtreme CNC plasma table. It can accommodate full sheets of steel and gives us the capacity to produce larger pieces, complete more orders and take on ambitious bespoke projects.

Although most of our garden products are made from strong 3mm steel, our equipment allows us to cut steel up to 20mm thick when a project requires it.

We use British-built Xtreme CNC machinery alongside our R-Tech plasma cutter and welding equipment. We also have laser engraving and CNC routing equipment for creating our wooden products, signs and personalised gifts.

Modern machinery gives us accuracy and consistency, but every product still passes through our hands. We design, cut, weld, clean, finish, pack and sell our creations ourselves, with powder coating completed by a trusted local company.

What We Make

Our range has grown from those first coat hooks and hanging basket brackets to include:

  • Heavy-duty 3mm steel hanging basket brackets

  • Metal garden birds, animals and decorative garden stakes

  • Metal wall signs and house signs

  • Memorial and remembrance designs

  • Officially licensed military insignia and designs

  • Vehicle, farming and classic-car themed products

  • Fire pits and chimineas

  • Key hooks and personalised gifts

  • Engraved wooden chopping boards and cheese boards

  • One-off bespoke commissions

Our hanging basket brackets are made from 3mm steel with a 30cm projection and four mounting holes. They are suitable for hanging baskets up to 20 inches and can be ordered in a growing collection of designs.

Made for You

Bespoke work remains one of our favourite parts of the business. Whether you would like your own car incorporated into a bracket, a personalised house sign, a meaningful memorial or something completely different, we can help turn your idea into a design.

We have produced everything from tiny robin tree spikes to seven-foot Bigfoot silhouettes, so unusual ideas are always welcome. Custom artwork is available at no additional charge on many of our products.

Everything is designed and manufactured by our family in Lymm, near Warrington. Our steel products can be supplied in bare steel to develop a natural rusty finish or professionally powder coated for a durable, weather-resistant finish.

Thank You for Supporting Our Family Business

We are incredibly proud of how far Farm Truck Designs has come—from a small home garage and one very wet steam fair to a larger workshop, an 8ft × 4ft CNC plasma table and customers throughout the UK.

Whether you discovered us at an event, spotted the Chevy at a car show, found us online or asked us to create something completely unique, thank you for supporting our small family business.

This is our story so far—and we are nowhere near finished yet.
