Inside Our Lymm Workshop

Where ideas become handmade metalwork and personalised gifts.

Set in the beautiful surroundings of Camsley Farm, our family workshop is where we design, cut, weld, engrave and hand-finish every Farm Truck Designs creation.

What We Can Do in Our Workshop

Our workshop combines modern machinery with hands-on craftsmanship. We design our products in-house before using CNC plasma cutting, welding, fabrication, laser engraving and CNC routing to turn sheets of steel and pieces of wood into finished products.

Our 8 × 4 ft CNC plasma cutter gives us the capacity to produce detailed garden art, signs and brackets as well as much larger bespoke pieces. Alongside it, our welding and fabrication equipment allows us to build everything from fire pits and memorials to sculptures, commercial signs and completely unique customer projects.

The workshop is also home to our laser engraver and CNC router, which we use to create personalised chopping boards, cheese boards, wooden signs and gifts. Every item is then carefully checked and hand-finished, with our metalwork available in natural bare steel or professionally powder coated by our trusted local specialists.

And because we have always loved old vehicles, there is occasionally an interesting classic-car project taking shape in the workshop too. No two days at Camsley Farm are ever quite the same.

Welding & Fabrication

Cutting the design is only the beginning. Using our R-Tech welding and fabrication equipment, we assemble and strengthen components to create durable products made for real everyday use.

This is where flat pieces of steel become hanging basket brackets, fire pits, garden sculptures, memorials and larger custom creations. We can also fabricate one-off items and practical solutions for customers who need something that cannot simply be bought off the shelf.

Every piece is carefully cleaned, checked and hand-finished before leaving our workshop.

3D Printing & Reverse Engineering

Our workshop has a growing 3D-printing production area consisting of ten Bambu Lab printers: two X1C machines, six A1 printers and two A1 Mini printers. Every machine is equipped with an AMS system, giving us reliable multicolour printing and automated filament management.

Having multiple printers allows us to produce one-off prototypes, replacement components and small production runs efficiently. Several machines can work at the same time, helping us complete larger orders without losing the flexibility needed for individual custom projects.

We can also reverse engineer suitable existing parts. Starting with an original component, accurate measurements or a customer’s idea, we can create a new digital model and produce a replacement, improved version or working prototype.

This is particularly useful for custom bushes, spacers, brackets, jigs, fixtures, display items and hard-to-find non-safety-critical components. We can also use 3D printing to test the size, fit and movement of a new design before manufacturing its final version in metal or another suitable material.

Every project is considered individually to ensure the chosen material and manufacturing method are appropriate for how the finished part will be used.

Made at Camsley Farm

Our workshop sits within the beautiful surroundings of Camsley Farm in Lymm, Cheshire. Surrounded by open countryside, wildlife and the changing seasons, it is a fitting home for a business creating garden art inspired by birds, animals and the outdoors.

We moved into our first unit at Camsley Farm in October 2025. As Farm Truck Designs grew, we moved into a larger workshop at the farm in August 2026, giving us the space to install our 8 × 4 ft CNC plasma cutter and take on bigger, more ambitious projects.

It is here that every design begins—and where sheets of steel, pieces of bamboo and customers’ ideas are transformed into something made to last.

CNC Plasma Cutting

Our metal workshop is equipped with two CNC plasma cutters: our original 4 × 4 ft machine and our larger 8 × 4 ft Xtreme Engineering machine.

The 4 × 4 cutter remains ideal for producing our regular signs, garden art, brackets and smaller bespoke orders. Our 8 × 4 cutter can accommodate full-size steel sheets and cut steel up to 20 mm thick, allowing us to take on much larger and more ambitious projects.

Most of our decorative products are made from durable 3 mm cold-rolled steel. Both machines follow our own digital designs precisely, producing clean and consistent shapes that are then carefully checked and hand-finished in our workshop.

Laser Engraving & CNC Routing

Our workshop is not limited to metalwork. We also use our Red Dragon laser engraver and WorkBee CNC router to create personalised wooden products and detailed custom designs.

The laser engraver allows us to add names, messages, illustrations and even specially prepared pet portraits to chopping boards, cheese boards, signs and gifts. Our CNC router gives us the ability to accurately cut and shape wood for larger or more detailed projects.

These machines help us combine precision with personalisation, whether we are creating a single meaningful gift or producing a collection of products for an event, business or stockist.

From an Idea to the Finished Piece

Whether we are creating one of our own designs, a personalised gift, a bespoke piece of metalwork or a practical replacement component, every project follows a careful process.

From the first sketch and digital design through to cutting, fabrication, engraving, printing and final inspection, we keep as much of the creative and manufacturing process as possible within our Lymm workshop.

1. The Idea

Every project begins with an idea. This may be one of our own designs, a customer’s sketch, a photograph, some wording, an existing component or simply a problem that needs solving. For bespoke work, we discuss the intended size, material, finish and how the finished item will be used.

2. Digital Design

We turn the idea into a digital design suitable for CNC plasma cutting, laser engraving, CNC routing or 3D printing. Bespoke decorative designs are sent to the customer for approval before manufacturing begins.

3. Making the Piece

The approved design is cut, engraved, printed or fabricated using the most suitable equipment in our workshop. Some projects use a combination of processes, such as CNC-cut steel followed by welding, or a 3D-printed prototype used to test a future metal component.

4. Finishing and Inspection

Each item is cleaned, assembled and carefully checked by hand. Metalwork is supplied in bare steel or, where selected, sent to our trusted local specialist for professional powder coating. Once the final inspection is complete, the order is prepared for collection or delivery.

Inside Our Workshop

Camsley Farm is more than simply where our machines are kept—it is where new ideas are tested, customer projects take shape and every Farm Truck Designs product begins its journey.

From sparks flying at the plasma cutter to laser engraving, welding, 3D printing and the occasional classic-car project, our workshop is a busy and constantly evolving space.

Bespoke Projects and One-Off Ideas

Our workshop gives us the flexibility to create far more than the products shown in our online shop. We work with individuals, businesses, clubs and organisations to produce one-off designs, larger metalwork and practical custom-made solutions.

You do not need to arrive with a finished technical drawing. Send us a photograph, sketch, existing part, measurements or simply explain what you would like to achieve. We can help develop the idea, choose a suitable manufacturing method and turn it into something real.
